Kitty O'Rourke was shopping in Sainsbury's on Thursday. She was with husband Christian, and her two-year-old son. Together, they were perusing the vast array of Valentine's Day 'stuff' that will next month be bound for the cupboard under the stairs. The family, from Cheshire, spotted some novelty mugs among the love-hearted trinkets. Two bears cuddling. You can't get more Valentine's Day than that, can you?

But there was something odd about the items, and Kitty thought she'd better highlight the potential problem with Sainsbury's.

"Just a little feedback on the 'hugging mugs'," she wrote on the supermarket's Face book page.

"They don't look quite like they are hugging, but rather excited to see each other. Had to swerve awkward questions from a two-year-old. Maybe not the best design!"

In fairness to Kitty, the mugs are questionable. It's a puzzling design. And not just because a polar bear (the female mug), would never elope with a grizzly (the male mug).

I'm no David Attenborough, nor am I a veterinary surgeon specializing in the care of wild animals, but bears' arms aren't located there, are they?

Mirror Online asked Kitty about her findings: "We were just browsing the Valentine's bit when I noticed them with my husband and burst out laughing at how poorly (or brilliantly) designed they were.

"My son even asked why the bears have willies and I didn't know how to answer. I told him it was a tail.

"We found the whole thing hilarious and didn't purchase them but after all the attention the photo got I feel like perhaps we should!!"
